GIRISH AIVALLI is the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Rural Agri Ventures, with a total professional work experience of 20 years, with leading organizations in multiple top management roles. Rural Agri Ventures is India’s fastest growing start-up in the agri-space, with major forays slated into critical verticals : Cold Chain & AgroLogistics, Dairy, Warehousing, Animal Feed, Rural & Agri Infrastructure and Solar & LED Lighting. Starting from a one room-one person operation in April 2014, Girish built up this company right from scratch.

In his immediate previous assignment, Girish was the Country General Director for Archer Daniels Midland, where he was responsible for development of ADM’s footprint in India and general management aspects of their business.

Prior to ADM, Girish was the Country Head & Group Executive Vice President – Food and Agribusiness Strategic Advisory and Research Group at Yes Bank, where he led  projects in the areas of Mega Food Parks, Food Processing, Integrated Dairy Farms, Warehousing and Cold Chains, Supply Chain Management, Large Scale Farming in Africa and Latin America, Plantations, Modern Terminal Markets besides undertaking projects on Market Entry Strategies and Business Diversification. He pioneered the model of ‘Advisory, Implementation & Financing’ as a one-stop shop offering, and helped the bank increase its project lending.

In his previous role at Cargill, Girish was heading their procurement and operations for the grains and oilseeds business for India. He actively created Cargill’s pan India procurement and operations structure delivering significant volume intake across key commodities. He also set up stand alone agri-retail chains, collaborative farming projects, stock financing models, besides taking up policy issues with various government departments to create a better business environment for Cargill.

Girish also worked with Olam International handling procurement, operations and trading for cashew and rice in Indonesia, Ivory Coast and India. Prior to that, Girish worked in Dabur India Limited in Andhra Pradesh in a sales and distribution role.

Girish is well recognized thought leader in the Food and AgriBusiness industry with an excellent mix of operational experience, understanding of challenges and policy issues – and relationships with the government and industry. He is also a member of the CII’s National Council on Agriculture, and member of sub-committees on Food Processing, Agri Innovation & Technology, Cold Chain, Sustainability & Dairy.

Girish is an MBA with specialization in marketing and finance from Management Development Institute, Gurgaon.
