a-IDEA (Association for Innovation Development of Entrepreneurship in Agriculture), is a Technology Business Incubator(TBI) hosted by ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad (ICAR-NAARM) & supported by NSTEDB, DST & BIRAC, DBT of Govt. of India (GoI). a-IDEA has been housed in the Centre for Agri-Innovation at ICAR-NAARM for fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in agriculture in India. a-IDEA, since 2014 has been supporting startups across 14 domains of agriculture and allied sectors. a-IDEA aims to help entrepreneurs ideate, incubate and accelerate their innovative early-stage startups that are scalable to become competitive food and agri-business ventures through capacity building, mentoring, networking investment and advisory support.
These startups supported by a-IDEA are in turn disrupting the value chains of agriculture across farm gate to food plate, thereby impacting the lives of farmers, rural and urban stakeholders.
Physical infrastructure available with the agency
A total of 10,000 sq. ft. space is dedicated for a-IDEA for the DST supported incubator. An additional space of around 4,000 Sq. ft. has been allocated for Bio Nest, the Agri-BIO Incubator (a-IDEA joint initiative of a-IDEA, NAARM- TBI & ABF) for supporting Agri biotechnology Startups. So Total 14,000 Sq. ft. of incubator space is available under a-IDEA for incubator operations at NAARM campus which can support 25 startups for incubation at a time.

Further, as a part of the scale up strategy of the incubator a-IDEA, Technology Business Incubator of NAARM envisages to add another 11,000 Sq. Ft. capacity of incubator facility to the existing capacity of 14,000 Sq. ft. to make a 25,000 Sq.Ft. capacity of the incubator to support agricultural startups. This would facilitate the expansion of the existing facility and further give a scope for accommodating the startups enrolled under the sensitization, ideation, incubation and acceleration programs.
NAARM-TBI, a-IDEA has received “National Award for Emerging Technology Business Incubator 2017” from Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India on the occasion of Technology Day 11th May 2018 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
GES Unconventional speaker’s series on 20th April 2018 hosted by a-IDEA and its partner Villgro. An opportunistic platform for different energetic minds to discuss on “Harvesting through Entrepreneurship – Trickling Global Agricultural Grand Challenges”.
NAARM-TBI, a-IDEA has been a Knowledge Partner for Yes Scale, an accelerator program of Yes bank. This program was launched during Future Agritech Summit on 8th June 2018 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
NAARM-TBI, a-IDEA Participated in panel discussion on “Smart Village Program” to fit innovations of Agri startups in smart villages in Anantapur District, Andhra Pradesh. The team of a-IDEA was a part of panel led by AIC-SKU, Palle Srujana, Smart AP foundation.
NAARM-TBI, a-IDEA has been on jury panel to gauge innovative student led tech hardware startups in Agriculture, as a part of Smart India Hackathon –Hardware edition at IIT-Kharagpur.
NAARM-TBI, a-IDEA and its Agri startups attended “Agri Vikar” 2018 organized by Government of India, supported by NIAM, KPMG at Bhubaneswar, Odisha on 29th and 30th June 2018. It was exciting to interact with Odisha ecosystem.

NAARM-TBI, a-IDEA has been selected to become a part of Venture Base Camp of Capria. It was exciting to attend a 5 day Incubation Intensive Workshop at Bangalore on 25th to 30th September.
NAARM-TBI, a-IDEA has showcased 10 startups from to the Agri Stakeholders and happy to become apart of Panel discussion in “Unleashing Potentials in Agriculture for Young Agripreneures” (UPAYA) conference organized by ICAR, with over 100 Agri startups participated in this major event.
