The a-IDEA, Agri-Business Incubator of ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM), Hyderabad organized a “Sensitization Programme on Entrepreneurship Development in Agriculture for students of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology (SVPUAT), Meerut to sensitize the students about various entrepreneurial opportunities and avenues in agriculture today.
Dr. N.S. Rana, Dean, College of Agriculture, SVPUAT, Meerut initially welcomed the participants and stressed the need of the students to take up entrepreneurship as a profession.
Dr. R.K. Mittal, Vice-Chancellor, SVPUAT, Meerut, who was the chief guest during the programme emphasized the importance of experiential learning for students and underlined the need to integrate it with entrepreneurship. He further thanked the Director of ICAR-NAARM for organizing such entrepreneurial startup programmes during the needy time of the country to boost agriculture at centre stage.
Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director, ICAR-NAARM in his presidential remarks asked the students to work towards increasing the income of farmers by technological innovation led entrepreneurship. He further insisted the importance of various agro-ecosystem in our country helping entrepreneurs to take multivariable enterprises for doubling farm income.
Dr. G. Venkateshwarlu, Joint Director, ICAR-NAARM, who was also present during the occasion highlighted the relevance of customized curriculum in agri-preneurship.
Dr. N.A. Vijay Avinashilingam, Addtl. CEO, a-IDEA, ICAR-NAARM, Hyderabad apprised about the need of entrepreneurship sensitization along with process of incubation and startups.
Dr. Ranjit Kumar, Principal Scientist & Head gave an outlook for a budding entrepreneur to take more financial risks to create more successful enterprises.
Mr. Anmol Gupta, CEO, whitemountaincollectives.com & an entrepreneur in agriculture spices and beverages shared his experiences of turning his idea into a successful startup.
About 319 students and faculty members virtually participated in the programme.
