Dr. Sekar started his career as Scientist at Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi, and served there for nineteen years as Scientist, Senior Scientist and Principal Scientist. During this period, he was holding an additional responsibility as Officer In-Charge of PME unit at IARI for three years. He joined National Academy of Agricultural Research management (NAARM) as Head of the Division of Research System Management in 2016
